Noè Ponti continues to impress on the World Cup tour in Asia. The Ticino native improved his own world record in the 50 m dolphin in Singapore.
In the preliminary heat, Ponti swam the two lengths in the small pool in 21.50 seconds, by far the best time of all participants. The 2021 Olympic bronze medal winner thus improved his own record, set two weeks ago in Shanghai, by 17 hundredths.
Ponti, who achieved the triple in the 100 m dolphin at the three World Cup stops in Asia this fall, will try to swim faster again in the final (at 12.03 p.m. Swiss time). He emphasized after the race that his coach Massimo Meloni had predicted a time of 21.5 for him, the 23-year-old was quoted as saying in a statement from Swiss Aquatics.
