HC Davos can't find a way out of the crisis in Zug either. These are the facts of the four National League games on Saturday.
HC Davos concedes its sixth championship defeat in a row in Central Switzerland. The Davos team was already down 0:2 after 104 seconds and 0:3 after nine minutes. Only Enzo Corvi scored for the Grisons after 24 minutes in overtime. Gregory Hofmann, Dario Simion, Lukas Bengtsson and Gabriel Carlsson scored for Zug.
HC Davos has never lost six games in a row since October 2018. One month later, Arno Del Curto resigned and HCD missed the playoffs in eleventh place among twelve teams.
Charlin's 5th shutout
The SCL Tigers stay in the top half of the standings with a 3-0 home win over Servette. Goalie Stéphane Charlin recorded his fifth shutout of the season with 26 saves. Charlin concedes just 1.6 goals per game with Langnau - a well-organized but far from well-stocked team - in the National League. All other goalies concede more than two goals per game. And Charlin saves 95.2 percent of all shots on goal. Number 2 in this respect: Harri Säteri of Biel with 93.6 percent.
However, SC Langnau deserved to win against Servette - and not only thanks to Charlin. The team from Emmental hit the post and crossbar, missed a penalty (Flavio Schmutz) and missed a goal due to a goalkeeper obstruction (also Flavio Schmutz), before the goals from 0-0 to 3-0 were scored in the final period. The first two goals were scored by Julian Schmutz and Aleksi Saarela on the power play due to Servette's indiscipline. Harri Pesonen scored into the empty net one second before the end.
Bern thanks to Loeffel
The game between Kloten and Bern (4:5) was spectacular. Kloten led three times and 4:3 from the 29th to the 51st minute before SC Bern was able to turn its dominance into a victory. Defenseman Romain Loeffel scored the 5:4 winning goal for SCB. Three defensemen scored a goal for the Bernese. And things didn't go well for Romain Loeffel in particular before the late winning goal: at 0:2, he deflected the puck into his own net; at 3:4, he was run over by double-goalscorer Niko Ojamäki.
Kloten celebrated its 90th anniversary with the home game against SC Bern.
Lundskog's streak
The Lakers' winning streak under new coach Johan Lundskog continued in Biel. The Lakers won 3-2 on penalties in the Seeland despite trailing twice. Malte Strömwall equalized twice for Rapperswil-Jona. Tyler Moy was the only one to score in the penalty shootout. The Rapperswil-Jona Lakers have won five of six championship games since Johan Lundskog took over. Prior to that, the Lakers had lost eight games in a row.
