As always, Iga Swiatek fails early at Wimbledon. Ons Jabeur also loses, Alexander Zverev experiences a scary moment. The facts of the 6th competition day at Wimbledon.

Iga Swiatek and Wimbledon - it remains a complicated relationship. After a good start, the world number 1 and four-time French Open winner lost 6:3, 1:6, 2:6 to the unseeded Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (WTA 35) in the third round. In the last two sets, the Polish player was virtually swept off the court by the outsider, who also had the crowd on her side. Swiatek has only made it to the quarter-finals on grass once before, a year ago. However, her place at the top of the world rankings is not in danger.

Two-time finalist eliminated

The finalist from the last two years was also eliminated. Tunisian Ons Jabeur lost 1:6, 6:7 (4:7) to Ukrainian Yelina Svitolina, the number 21 seed, in the third round. The mother of a two-year-old girl and Olympic bronze medalist often plays successfully at Wimbledon. She reached the semi-finals in 2019 and a year ago.

Scary moment for Zverev

Alexander Zverev only experienced a brief moment of shock in his third-round match against Britain's Cameron Norrie (ATP 42) when he slipped at the start of the second set, overstretched his leg and lay still for a moment with a pained face. Otherwise, however, he had no problems with the left-hander and won 6:4, 6:4, 7:6 (17:15). Afterwards, however, he complained of pain in his knee. The French Open No. 4 seed has never torn up big strings at Wimbledon before, but is benefiting from the closed roof in the current weather conditions. This suits his game much better.

End of Murray's Wimbledon career

Andy Murray's career at Wimbledon actually came to an end on Thursday evening with his defeat in the doubles alongside his brother Jamie. He will not be able to extend it in the mixed as his partner Emma Raducanu, who is in the last 16 of the singles, withdrew on Saturday due to a "slight stiffening in her right wrist".
