Simon Ehammer jumps long, Martin Fuchs and Steve Guerdat with Leone and Dynamix over the hurdles: The Swiss Olympic highlights from Tuesday.

Athletics. On Tuesday evening from 8.15pm, Simon Ehammer will be competing for a medal in the long jump. In qualifying, the man from Appenzell achieved the fourth-best distance with 8.09 m. Ehammer has been one of the favorites in the long jump since he won bronze at the World Championships in Eugene (USA) two years ago. At the European Championships in Rome, Ehammer reached 8.41 m, which puts him in second place in the season's best list.

Riding. Martin Fuchs in the saddle on Leone and Steve Guerdat with Dynamix will be riding for the medals in the individual jumping competition from 10.00 a.m. in the King's Garden at Versailles. The Swiss duo qualified for the final of the top 30 on Monday with clear rounds and were among the fastest in the course. On Tuesday, the reckoning starts again from zero and Guerdat could claim his second Olympic victory since 2012.

Sailing. Off the coast of Marseille, Maud Jayet could bring Switzerland its first Olympic medal in sailing since Bernard Dunand in Mexico in 1968. The 28-year-old Romande will start the medal race in the ILCA-6 class at around 14:45 in fourth place in the intermediate classification. She is only five points behind bronze, but there is more competition lurking behind her.

Beach volleyball. The still unbeaten Swiss beach volleyball players will contest the quarter-finals one after the other on Tuesday evening. Tanja Hüberli and Nina Brunner will face the world champions Kelly Cheng/Sara Hughes from the USA, while Esmée Böbner and Zoé Vergé-Dépré will play against the Australians Mariafe Artacho del Solar/Taliqua Clancy. Hüberli/Brunner have yet to drop a set in Paris. The two Swiss teams can only meet in the final.
