The Swiss ice hockey juniors have no chance in the quarter-finals of the U20 World Championship in Canada. The US boys were more than a size too big in their 7:2 defeat.
The team coached by Marcel Jenni was already trailing 0:3 after just twelve minutes. Even a change of goalie from Christian Kirsch to Elijah Neuenschwander failed to turn the game around. The first Swiss goal was scored by SCB defenceman Nils Rhyn in the 16th minute while short-handed, but only 100 seconds later the score was 1:4 again. 2:7 by Andro Kaderli from Emmental, who plays for Leksand in Sweden, in the 47th minute meant that the game had long since been decided.
That was the end of the World Cup for Switzerland, who reached the quarter-finals thanks to their victory over Kazakhstan on New Year's Eve.
