Germany end the Nations League group stage with a 1-1 draw in Hungary. The group win had already been decided.
Julian Nagelsmann's team, which had been almost completely reshuffled compared to the 7-0 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina three days earlier, conceded an equalizer in the 99th minute through a penalty converted by Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai, after Dortmund's Felix Nmecha had scored his first international goal in the 76th minute to make it 1-0.
With 14 points and a goal difference of 18:4, Germany did well in the Nations League after the only half-successful home European Championship. As group winners and therefore seeded, Germany will face Italy, Denmark or Croatia in the quarter-finals.
The draw for the quarter-finals on March 20 and 23 will take place on Friday (12.00 noon) in Nyon. As in the three previous editions, the quarter-final winners will contest a Final Four at the beginning of June.
Also in action in March are the teams in the promotion/relegation play-offs, including Turkey, who missed out on direct promotion to League A with a 3-1 defeat in Montenegro. Wales overtook them on the final matchday thanks to a 4-1 win over Iceland. In addition to the Welsh, the Czech Republic also gained direct promotion to League A on Tuesday.
