The penultimate matchday of the European League group stage brings the decisions for the Swiss clubs. Kadetten Schaffhausen no longer have a chance of reaching the main round, while Kriens-Luzern are certain to progress.
Kadetten Schaffhausen would have needed at least one point from group leaders Benfica Lisbon to still have a chance of finishing in the top two of the four-team group on the final matchday at home against the still point-less Slovaks of Tatran Presov. However, the Swiss champions never came close to scoring with a 32:39 win. The deficit was already six goals at the break. Benfica and the French side from Limoges have secured the top two places.
Kriens-Lucerne secured their fourth win in their fifth game in Spain against Ademar Leon with a 31:30 victory and thus an early ticket to the main round with four groups of four teams each. Next Tuesday's home game against the Danes from Gudme is still about winning the group.
