Angelica Moser and Simon Ehammer are the Swiss Athletes of the Year 2024.

The pole vaulter and the decathlete with world-class qualities in the long jump were voted for by more than 5500 fans and an expert jury and honored for their achievements on Saturday evening at the Swiss Athletics Night in Bern.

For Moser, this is her first award as Swiss Athlete of the Year after several accolades as a young athlete. The 27-year-old from Zurich celebrated a career highlight with her victory at the European Championships in Rome. She finished a strong fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow and the Olympic Games in Paris. She also won her first Diamond League title in Marrakesh and set the Swiss record in Monaco (4.88 m).

Ehammer received the award for the second time at the age of 24. The man from Appenzell shone this season both as an all-around athlete and as a long jumper. In March, he won the heptathlon title at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow and broke the Swiss record with 6418 points. In the summer, he confirmed his status as one of the best long jumpers in the world with bronze at the European Championships, fourth place at the Olympic Games and second place at the Diamond League final in Brussels.

Coach Florian Clivaz, who has found a way back to the top of the world with Munjnga Kambundji, also received an award. Kambundji won gold in the 200 m at the European Championships and reached the 100 m final at the Olympic Games in Paris.
