Genève-Servette Hockey Club cannot confirm the 5-0 away win against Lausanne in the Champions League in the National League. These are the facts from the five games on Saturday evening.
In the Champions Hockey League, Servette shone on Tuesday with a 5-0 away win in Lausanne. The Geneva team already has one foot in the quarter-finals of the European Cup. However, Servette's core business is still not going well: the Servettiens took an early 3:1 lead against Kloten thanks to three powerplay goals, but lost 4:5 after overtime. Miro Aaltonen scored Kloten's winning goal after just 21 seconds of overtime.
Charlin's calling card
Langnau goalie Stéphane Charlin made his mark in Biel. Charlin saved 24 shots in his SCL Tigers' 1-0 win over EHC Biel. It was Charlin's second shutout of the season. Even before that, Charlin dominated all goalie rankings: He concedes by far the fewest goals per game (1.36) and also has the best save percentage (over 96 percent) with a league average of 91.84 percent. Charlin is making things increasingly difficult for Langnau's second goalie Luca Boltshauser: In the last nine games, Charlin has conceded fewer goals (14) than Boltshauser in his last four appearances. With Charlin, Langnau has collected 15 of its last 16 points. The winning goal for the SCL Tigers in Biel was scored by Oskars Lapinskis in the 19th minute.
End of the Davos streak
After seven wins in a row, HC Davos had to admit defeat on home ice again. Josh Holden's team led twice, but failed to extend their lead. The decisive scene took place shortly before the end: Filip Zadina was sent to the showers early after a knee check; Jacob de la Rose scored the 3:2 winning goal for Gottéron on the power play with 35 seconds left. Lucas Wallmark retired injured in the first period after being hit in the face by a linesman's skate.
Ajoie's third home win
HC Ajoie seized the opportunity against struggling Ambri. The Leventines traveled to Pruntrut on the back of four defeats in a row. Thanks in part to two power play goals, Ajoie was able to celebrate its 4th win of the season, the first under new coach Greg Ireland, whose debut on Friday was a failure. Ajoie has won all of its last three home games. Julius Nättinen and Jerry Turkulainen both scored three goals (1 goal, 2 assists each); Philip-Michael Devos scored two goals.
Bern beats Zug again
On Wednesday, Bern had won 6:1 in Zug. Three days later, the EVZ put up a fight, but had to leave the ice as losers again. Zug led 2:1 until the 56th minute, but then lost 2:3 after overtime. Marco Lehmann equalized with his eleventh goal of the season in the 56th minute to make it 2:2. It was a curious goal: first Lehmann missed the open goal, then Romain Loeffel just hit the post, but the puck bounced off the post in front of Lehmann's feet and he scored to equalize the score at 2:2. And there was also a happy ending for Loeffel: in the second minute of overtime, he scored the winning goal for Bern to make it 3:2. Loeffel scored in overtime for the first time in a Bernese uniform (and the third time overall).
