Berne Night closure of the Brünnentunnel on the Bern city bypass

The Brünnen tunnel on the A1 near Bern will be closed in both directions overnight on September 23. The Federal Roads Office (Astra) has announced that the section computer needs to be replaced.

Like all other national road tunnels, the Brünnen tunnel on the A1 near Bern is equipped with countless electronic systems, Astra announced on Thursday evening. These include fire alarm systems, ventilation, cameras and sensors.

These systems are important for safety because they trigger automatic processes in the event of an incident. The section computer that coordinates these systems is now being replaced. For this reason, the Brünnen Tunnel will have to be closed in both directions between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on September 23. Traffic will be diverted via the cantonal road.
