The PZM Psychiatriezentrum Münsingen AG and the Universitäre Psychiatrischen Dienste Bern (UPD) AG are on the way to a merger. A feasibility study is now to provide the basis for this.

According to a joint press release from the two institutions and the Canton of Bern, the study will examine various options for infrastructure development and examine in detail key issues such as choice of location, capacity planning and financial implications.

The boards of directors of PZM Psychiatriezentrum Münsingen AG and Universitäre Psychiatrische Dienste Bern (UPD) AG have so far focused on the financial and operational stabilization of their companies. At UPD, the focus was on securing liquidity.

The Canton of Berne's Department of Health, Social Affairs and Integration (GSI) and the Boards of Directors of both institutions remain convinced that the planned merger makes sense. The aim is to present the results of the feasibility study to the cantonal government in the first quarter of 2025.
