Berne City of Bern prepares renovation of Kornhausbrücke bridge

Next Monday (September 30), the city of Bern will begin the preparatory work for the renovation of the Kornhausbrücke. The scaffolding will be erected and the installation sites set up.

To create space for the scaffolding, bushes and shrubs near the bridge piers will first be cut back or removed. Minor excavation work will also be necessary to lay the foundations for the scaffolding, as the city announced on Monday.

The main work is scheduled to begin in February 2025. The Kornhausbrücke is 125 years old. Voters approved a loan of almost ten million francs for its renovation. As part of the renovation, Bernmobil will also replace the streetcar tracks and overhead lines.
