Cantonal vote BE Cautious Yes in the Bernese Jura to the Moutier Concordat

The administrative district of Bernese Jura has approved the concordat on the transfer of the small town of Moutier to the canton of Jura. With 60.2 percent of the votes cast in favor, the Yes vote was significantly lower than in other Bernese administrative districts, where the approval rate was over 80 percent in some cases.

The rather restrained Yes vote in the administrative district of Bernese Jura can be explained by the fact that a large majority of the population there is traditionally more loyal to Bern. There are strong pro-Jura movements in Moutier and some small municipalities in the surrounding area.

Voter turnout in the Bernese Jura administrative district was over 49%, which is higher than in the other districts with around 40%, according to figures published on the Internet by the Bernese State Chancellery on Sunday.
