A car caught fire in Haltikon in the canton of Schwyz on Sunday evening. No one was injured, according to the Schwyz cantonal police.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening in Haltikon when the driver and his passenger noticed the smell of plastic inside the car while driving from Küssnacht towards Udligenswil LU. They stopped, checked the engine and continued their journey for the time being, wrote the cantonal police. Only a short time later, smoke began to seep into the interior of the vehicle. The driver and his passenger stopped and made their way to safety.

No one was injured, the police added. A technical defect is suspected as a possible cause.
