According to the spokesperson, Stadler currently assumes that the employees at the Altenrhein plant will be able to return to full-time work after January 20. They are currently working at around 50 percent. According to the information provided, the short-time working only affected a small part of the workforce in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, which consists of over 1,700 employees.
The short-time working was triggered by delivery delays at aluminum supplier Constellium. Production at the Valais-based company had been severely affected by flooding. Constellium aluminum profiles form the basic framework of Stadler trains.
However, the Constellium plant was back to full capacity at the beginning of February, the spokesperson continued. However, it will probably take until summer 2025 to make up for the backlog, with the resulting delivery delays at Stadler varying from a few weeks to several months in individual cases.
According to the spokesperson, there was no loss of pay for employees during the short-time working period. Stadler has compensated the amount that is not financed by the canton's short-time working compensation.
