Fire, fire 78-year-old woman and dog die in bedroom fire in Schaffhausen
A 78-year-old woman died in a fire in a bedroom in Schaffhausen on Wednesday night. The family's dog also died. Another person had to be taken to hospital for examination.

A resident of the property reported to the police at around 1.40 a.m. that a fire had broken out in the bedroom, they said on Wednesday. Before the emergency services arrived, four of the five residents were able to get themselves to safety.
During the extinguishing work, the emergency services then rescued the 78-year-old woman, who died on site despite resuscitation attempts, according to a police statement.
The firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly, but then found the family's dog dead in the property. The cause of the fire is still unclear, but the damage to property amounts to several tens of thousands of francs.
