On Tuesday, members of the fire department and civil defense continued their search for the two people who have been missing in Misox since the storm on Friday evening. The search is focused on the village of Sorte GR and along the Moesa river.

Between 15 and 25 people are still searching for the two missing persons, a spokesperson for the regional command staff told the Keystone-SDA news agency. On Friday evening, the two missing people were probably in one of three houses that were destroyed by a landslide.

The search is expected to continue until next Friday, although the chances of finding the two missing people alive are dwindling. The rescuers are concentrating on the masses of rubble in the village and along the Moesa River, which flows through the village and joins the Ticino at Bellinzona.

Rescue from a cone of rubble

On Friday evening, a violent storm in the southern Graubünden valley led to flooding and landslides. A mudslide hit the village of Sorte in the municipality of Lostallo. 15 residents of the village are currently being evacuated, the spokesperson added.

On Saturday morning, a woman was rescued from a cone of debris. On Sunday, rescue workers found a male body in the Moesa river.
