A replacement bridge has been completed for the Visletto Bridge in Cevio TI, which was destroyed by a storm at the end of June. The upper and lower Maggia Valley are thus once again connected without the restrictions of an auxiliary bridge, as the army announced on Tuesday.

Traffic can now cross the 61-metre-long support bridge, as an army spokesperson told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. Traffic will be routed in one lane with traffic lights. Vehicles up to a maximum of 32 tons are permitted.

The new bridge was built around one hundred meters north of the destroyed Visletto Bridge. 35 members of the disaster relief standby battalion worked on the bridge installation for a week. Due to the high temperatures, the work was mainly carried out at night, according to the army. Two pneumatic excavators and a 40-ton crane were also used.
