The Swiss Vocational and Professional Education and Training Federation (BCH-FPS) explained in a press release on Saturday that vocational schools and the teachers who teach there are important pillars of vocational education and training. In his speech, Federal Councillor Parmelin said that vocational education and training, and with it the dual education system, had clearly proven its worth. It is also very Swiss in the way it works and its subtleties.
Education is fundamentally a very valuable asset, but also a challenge, as the world of work is constantly and rapidly changing, for example due to new technologies such as artificial intelligence. Young people are at the forefront of these changes, which is why it is all the more important to provide them with targeted support, said Parmelin.
The Swiss VPET umbrella organization was actually founded at the Swiss Teachers' Day in Winterthur in 1874. It brought together the cantonal and specialist sections of vocational school teachers from all over Switzerland.
