The spokesman of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia in Lebanon, Mohammed Afif, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike, has been buried. The date of the funeral in the coastal town of Sidon was announced only half an hour before it was due to begin and the ceremony lasted only a short time - probably for fear of further Israeli air strikes.

After the killing of the Hezbollah leadership, the spokesman had become one of the few remaining publicly known faces of the organization. Afif was also considered a confidant of Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed at the end of September. He had been in charge of Hezbollah's press relations for many years. Afif was killed in an Israeli airstrike near the center of the capital Beirut.
