The trial against French actor Gérard Depardieu for alleged sexual harassment has begun. The hearing began with the actor's request to postpone the court date for health reasons. The court had not yet made a decision on this.

Depardieu's lawyer, Jérémie Assous, had announced that the actor's doctors had forbidden him to appear in court. They wanted to postpone the date. Depardieu's state of health had deteriorated. This was directly related to the court date. With the right treatment, he could appear in court in six months.

The proceedings revolve around the allegations made by two women against Depardieu. Both cases are said to have occurred in 2021 during the filming of the movie "Les volets verts" (The Green Shutters) by director Jean Becker. The two women, a set decorator and an assistant to the director, accuse Depardieu of groping them on the breasts and the vessel.

The actor ("Cyrano of Bergerac", "Asterix and Obelix") denies the accusations. He faces up to five years imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros in the trial.
