The day after coach Dan Tangnes announced that he would be leaving EV Zug early at the end of the season, Zug won 5-0 against Kloten. These are the facts from Tuesday's four games.
Ludvig Johnson scored his first goal of the season after 107 seconds for Zug, which led 3-0 after 18 minutes and 5-0 after 35 minutes. Kloten had previously won four games in a row. On Tuesday, the visitors from the Zurich Unterland had problems in the goalie position: Sandro Zurkirchen was substituted after ten minutes and two goals against. Ludovic Waeber was injured after 24 minutes, however, so Zurkirchen had to come back in.
Malgin shines
In the previous three seasons, the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers won 9 of 13 games against the ZSC Lions, but in the current championship they also lost their second duel, this time 1:4. The visitors laid the foundation for victory in the first period with two goals within 175 seconds to make it 2:0 (12th). The 1:0 by Vinzenz Rohrer (9th) was an own goal by Rapperswil defender Luca Capaul, then Denis Malgin doubled the lead. After Viktor Rask (28) scored the Lakers' follow-up goal on the power play, Juho Lammikko (44) put the visitors back in front by two goals after a fantastic pass from the eye-catching 20-year-old Alessandro Segafredo. With 29 seconds remaining, Malgin, who scored three goals for the second time in a row, was responsible for the final result with a shot into the empty net. The Lakers lost for the third time in a row, with the injured top scorer Malte Strömwall visibly missing.
Biel with fresh blood
In the home game against Lausanne, EHC Biel managed to break out of its recent four defeats with a 6:1 victory. And Biel responded with fresh blood: 15-year-old Jonah Neuenschwander (born in 2009) started in the first block, even played in the power play and, in his very first National League game, even managed an assist for the opening goal in the 12th minute by Alexander Jakowenko. Interesting: As a C-junior, Jonah Neuenschwander is not even allowed to play with the active players in football. The game was decided in the second period when Jere Sallinen, Toni Rajala and Elvis Schläpfer increased the lead from 2:1 to 5:1.
Too late and too early
In Lugano, the home team conceded a 3:5 home defeat against Langnau. The Emmental team took the early lead in the second period when they pulled away from 1:1 to 4:1 with three goals. Joshua Fahrni and Dario Allenspach cut the deficit from 1:1 to 3:1 within nine seconds. Timo Jenni had made it 1:0 for the visitors with his first National League goal. The fans were a talking point: the visiting fans from Langnau only arrived at the stadium at the start of the second period - due to the traffic jam in the Gotthard after an accident. They arrived just in time to see the decisive Langnau goals. These goals spoiled the game for the Lugano fans. They sent their team into the second intermission with a resounding whistle, then initiated a sit-in in the Curva Nord during the third period and finally left the stadium early in protest. Lugano have won just three of their last eleven games and only two of their last six home games.
