Liverpool had to settle for a point against arch-rivals Manchester United. The sovereign Premier League leaders drew 2-2 at home to the struggling record champions in the 20th round.

For Manchester United, the point at Anfield Road is a success after the team, newly coached by Ruben Amorim, had recently lost three times in a row in the league. The 22-year-old Ivorian Amad Diallo scored in the 80th minute to make it 2-2. Defender Harry Maguire even had the visitors' winner on his feet deep into stoppage time, but shot over from the best position.

Liverpool thus avoided a second league defeat of the season. However, the loss of points was still annoying for the hosts: the Reds had managed the seemingly most difficult part of the game with the turnaround from 0:1 to 2:1. They responded to the first goal conceded shortly after the break through Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah within a short space of time. With the converted penalty in the 70th minute, the Egyptian increased his goal tally in this Premier League season to 18.

Liverpool can cope with the draw in mathematical terms, not least because their closest rivals Arsenal also only drew at Brighton on Saturday. The Reds still have a nine-point lead over the Londoners.
