The new "raw dogging" travel trend demands extreme endurance and frugality from passengers on the plane. Without distractions and comfort, it pushes you to your mental limits.

No time? blue News summarizes for you

  • Cultivated boredom is a new travel trend when flying.
  • Under the term "raw dogging", any kind of entertainment on a flight is frowned upon, as is sleeping or eating.
  • Men in particular are celebrating the trend on social media.

How about simply doing nothing at all during a long flight, apart from staring at the boarding pass or simply sitting on the back of the seat in front of you.

No music, no streaming, no food, no sleep. Sounds boring? But it's the current trend among frequent flyers.

More and more passengers - especially men - are finding it desirable to do without all the modern comforts of flying. The trend of self-imposed mental and physical starvation is making a name for itself on social media under the term "raw dogging".

"No headphones, no movie, no water, nothing"

Unlike other skyway hacks, which are designed to calm people with a fear of flying, "raw dogging" is all about mental and physical boundaries.

"I just completed a seven-hour flight," boasts Wudini, a British DJ, to his more than 13.2 million Tiktok viewers, writes theNew York Post. "No headphones, no movie, no water, nothing." "Unbelievable," he added. "The power of my mind knows no bounds."

Australian musician Torren Foot also celebrated his fun-free, 15-hour trip to Los Angeles in a viral "raw dogging" video.

He recalled the flight as the longest trip he's taken without rest or entertainment. "No music, no movies," Foot wrote, "just the flight map."

The anti-enjoyment phenomenon is loosely attributed to Idris Elba's character Sam Nelson from the Apple TV+ series "Hijacked."

In the seven-part anthology, the 50-year-old hero must endure the seven-hour-plus flight from Dubai to London without any creature comforts when his Airbus is commandeered by crooks.
