Status quo after one year of marriage
At the Bambi Awards, Uhlig spoke to Bunte about her marriage and how she feels after a year as a wife. She admitted that she still has to get used to the term "my husband": "It feels nice to say my husband, but it's also unfamiliar. Before, it was easier to refer to him as my lover or partner. Now it's also my husband, and that sounds so grown-up." Arguments are a normal part of adulthood for her, and she and Karl argue regularly without dramatizing it: "All the time. Every day. Not today, but we haven't spoken on the phone yet either. But we did talk on the phone this morning. He said I should stay at home because I'm not quite fit. But I wanted to go to Bambi. Luckily, our arguments quickly fade away and we laugh a lot together."

In an interview with the Abendzeitung München newspaper, Uhlig mentioned that she still loves smelling her husband even after all these years: "I've loved his smell for 17 years. It's actually like before the wedding. I haven't had time to think about it yet." Perhaps it's the not thinking about it that is her recipe for success.
