British player Charles Broom is already 26 years old, number 245 in the world rankings and will be making his debut at Grand Slam level at Wimbledon thanks to a wild card. If he were to win, Wawrinka (ATP 93) would face a Frenchman, the indestructible Gaël Monfils or the number 22 seed Adrian Mannarino.
Dominic Stricker (ATP 151), who benefits from a protected ranking, can also hope to advance to the 2nd round as he did last year. Although he is not the favorite against the Frenchman Arthur Fils (ATP 34), who is still a year younger at 20, his game is more suited to grass.
