The New Jersey Devils return to winning ways in the NHL. The team with the Swiss trio wins 3:2 against the Seattle Kraken.
The Devils with captain Nico Hischier, Timo Meier and Jonas Siegenthaler have so far been unsuccessful on their current trip away from home. The first four of their six games as a visiting team were all lost.
Hischier and Meier were also at the origin of the victory in the northwest of the USA. The most productive Swiss players so far this season set up Canadian Dawson Mercer's 1:0 after eight minutes. The Kraken were able to equalize twice. The home team was unable to respond to the Devils' third goal, scored by Czech Ondrej Palat at the start of the third period.
The Devils close out the half-dozen away games on Friday night with a neighboring duel at Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers.
The Vancouver Canucks with Pius Suter suffered their second defeat in a row with a 4:5 overtime loss at the Montreal Canadiens, their fourth in the last five games. The Zurich forward failed to score for the sixth time in a row. The most notable player for the visitors, who were 3:1 ahead at one point, was American J.T. Miller with two goals and two assists. The extra time lasted just 48 seconds. Canadian Nick Suzuki, who had already provided two assists, scored on the power play.
