Beach volleyball player Tanja Hüberli has found her new partner. The bronze medal winner at the Olympic Games in Paris will be playing with Leona Kernen in future.

The 19-year-old from the Bernese Oberland was runner-up at the U21 World Championships in 2023, while Kernen also won silver at U20 level on the European stage. "Leona is a young athlete with a lot of potential, motivation and ambition," said Hüberli in a press release.

The 32-year-old had previously played together with Nina Brunner for nine years. After the duo won bronze at the Olympic Games in Paris, they decided to call it a day.

While Brunner is taking a break, it is now clear to Hüberli who she will be playing with on the clay courts in the future. "A lot of things will be new and different, I'm aware of that. But that's exactly what I'm looking forward to. This new team is also an opportunity for me to continue to improve and grow," says Hüberli. Meanwhile, Kernen, who is not related to ski world champion Bruno, says she is very motivated to learn more every day. "I am very grateful that Tanja is giving me this opportunity."
