In the 2nd round of the European Championships in Lohja in the south of Finland, the Swiss curlers led by skip Yannick Schwaller achieve their 2nd victory. They won their duel with world champion Sweden 6:5.

After a commanding 7:1 opening win against Austria, the Swiss got off to a dream start against the Swedes, led by Olympic and seven-time world champion Niklas Edin, the world's best crew of the last twelve years. They led 5:0 after the 4th end.

Sweden managed to close the gap to 4:6, but the Swiss had the advantage of the last stone in the last end. With this, Swiss number 4 Benoît Schwarz-Van Berkel managed to prevent the Swedes from making a deuce and thus an extra end.

In their next game, the Swiss will face outsiders the Czech Republic on Sunday evening at 6 pm. For the Swiss women around skip Silvana Tirinzoni, after the two victories at the start, they continue against Scotland on Sunday afternoon (from 1 p.m.).
