Three Swiss players would have been in action in the NHL on Wednesday night. The only one to play was Pius Suter, who lost 2-1 in overtime with the Vancouver Canucks against the Washington Capitals.
Pierre-Luc Dubois scored the winning goal for the home team in the fifth minute of overtime. Before that, the 26-year-old Canadian had already put the Capitals ahead. Suter, who has been waiting for a goal since the beginning of December, recorded three shots on goal, but once again failed to score. It was the Canucks' eighth loss in the last ten games.
Philipp Kurashev, who was left out of the Chicago Blackhawks' 3-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche for the fourth game in a row, did not play again. The home game of Kevin Fiala and the Los Angeles Kings was even canceled. Due to the devastating fires in and around the city, the encounter with the Calgary Flames was postponed to an as yet undetermined date.
