Well done, Tigers! Straubing defeated last year's finalists Dynamo Pardubice 4:2 at the Spengler Cup in Davos and surprisingly reached the semi-finals against Team Canada.

In the preliminary round, the Spengler Cup newcomers Straubing had looked somewhat overstretched and clearly lost both games. Although they had only had a 17-hour break, the Bavarians rallied to produce a par force performance and overturned a 2-1 deficit in the final period against the favored Dynamo Pardubice.

In the 48th minute, US defender Justin Braun equalized, in the 57th minute Philipp Samuelsson scored in overtime and Joshua Samanski with a double strike within 26 seconds to decide the game.

Pardubice had only missed out on direct qualification for the semi-finals after conceding a goal in overtime against Kärpät Oulu, and now the Czechs, who were again without Roman Cervenka who was convalescing, paid a high price with the earliest possible elimination.

Straubing, on the other hand, can try to take revenge on Team Canada on Monday afternoon. In the second semi-final on Monday evening, Fribourg-Gottéron will face the hosts Davos or Oulu.
