- Loïc Meillard wins the slalom in Hafjell.
- Ramon Zenhäusern makes up 16 places in the 2nd run and finishes in 10th place. Tanguy Nef also finishes in the top 10.
- Despite the strong result, Zenhäusern misses out on the season finale in Sun Valley. Marc Rochat and Luca Aerni also fail to make it into the top 25.
Meillard triumphs with his second World Cup victory in the slalom and sixth overall, ahead of Norway's Atle Lie McGrath and Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, who is competing for Brazil. Henrik Kristoffersen, the leader in the Slalom World Cup, finished fifth.
Meillard thus makes up 55 points in the discipline rankings and is now only 47 points behind the Norwegian in second place ahead of the final in Sun Valley. Former runner-up Clément Noël has to make do with 7th place and goes into the final slalom in the US state of Idaho with a mortgage of 86 points.
Nef in the top 10 - Zenhäusern makes up 16 places
Tanguy Nef defends his place in the top 8 of the season rankings with 8th place. The third best Swiss skier on Sunday is Ramon Zenhäusern, who makes up 16 positions in the second run and moves up to 10th place. Daniel Yule goes the opposite way and drops back from 10th to 23rd place. As a result, he also ends up behind Luca Aerni (21st), who opened the second run.
As with the Swiss triple victory the day before, Meillard was already in the lead after the first run and successfully defended his position in the afternoon. 21 hundredths tipped the balance in favor of the in-form Swiss slalom world champion, who did not let back problems stop him on the flat slope in Hafjell.
Zenhäusern with arguments for remaining in the A squad
Ramon Zenhäusern uses his last opportunity to gather arguments for remaining in the Swiss-Ski A-squad. The 33-year-old from Valais, who dropped out of the top 30 on the start list, set the best time on the second run and achieved by far his best result since his fourth and last slalom victory two years ago in Soldeu.
Nevertheless, Zenhäusern clearly missed out on qualifying for the World Cup final of the top 25 slalom racers. Marc Rochat and Luca Aerni also fail to make it into the top 25 in the discipline rankings. Aerni's nine places made up in the second run no longer helped him, while Rochat slipped from 17th to 28th place and thus to the bottom of the rankings due to a time-consuming mistake.
The World Cup final with the last races in the four main disciplines begins next Thursday with the downhill training. The slalom on Thursday, March 27, will mark the end of the season.
