On Monday evening, Swiss winners of World Championship and European Championship medals from July 2023 as well as Olympic and Paralympic medals and diplomas will be received in the Federal Palace in Paris.
"It's always particularly nice to be honored," Olympic champion Chiara Leone told Keystone-SDA. "I was on vacation for a long time in September, which was very good."
President Viola Amherd paid tribute to the athletes. "The moments when you lift the trophy or hang the medal around your neck are only a fraction of what you have achieved beforehand," said Amherd in her speech. "That makes their successes all the more valuable. You have achieved what we rarely do in politics: you have united the whole of Switzerland behind you. At the same time, they prove that our sports system works."
