Fribourg athletics coach Laurent Meuwly has extended his contract with the Dutch federation until the end of 2028.
This means that the 50-year-old will remain responsible for the sprint, hurdles and relays until after the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Meuwly moved from Swiss Athletics to the Netherlands in spring 2019. The former coach of Lea Sprunger helped Femke Bol in particular to make her breakthrough. Under his guidance, the Dutch 4x400m mixed relay team won gold at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Despite his involvement in the Netherlands, Meuwly never stopped coaching Swiss athletes. Sprunger, who has since retired, accompanied him to Papendal, as did Ajla Del Ponte, who finished fifth in the 100m at the Olympics. Ticino track specialist Ricky Petrucciani recently joined Meuwly's group.
