The Swiss men's team in Lohja, Finland, missed out on reaching the European Championship final like the women. The team led by skip Yannick Schwaller was beaten 8:10 by Scotland.

With eight wins from nine games in the round robin, Scotland went into the duel with fourth-placed Switzerland (six wins) as the favorites. However, the team led by skip Bruce Mouat only made the difference in the extra end, in which they had the advantage of the last stone on their side. Before that, the Swiss, with Pablo Lachat, Sven Michel, skip Schwaller and Benoît Schwarz-van Berkel, had been able to equalize thanks to a house of three in the tenth end.

The Scots are thus becoming the Swiss' opponents to fear. Switzerland lost the European Championship final against Scotland in 2022, and Schwaller and Co. failed in the semi-finals in 2023 and this year.

However, the Swiss have the chance to end the tournament in Finland with a medal - it would be their third in a row at a European Championship after silver and bronze. On Friday evening, they will play Norway for bronze. Switzerland lost 5:10 to skip Magnus Ramsfjell's team in the group phase.

Meanwhile, Scotland could win their fourth European Championship title in a row on Saturday. In the final, the current high-flyers will face the surprise team from Germany with skip Marc Muskatewitz, who unexpectedly won the semi-final against the Norwegians 8:2.
