Germany just managed to avoid defeat against Switzerland in the group stage. The Nati were all the more convincing against Italy. "Disgustingly good", as German experts put it.

The football talk show Heimspiel bei der Nati was once again a guest of the German Sport Bild on Sunday. And there the team was greeted less than charmingly with the words "You were disgustingly good" by the deputy editor-in-chief of Bild Sport, Carli Underberg.

For him, the national team's performance in the round of 16 against Italy was one of the best he has seen at this Euro so far. He rates only Spain's game against Croatia and Austria's 3:2 win over Holland higher.

A final in which only German is spoken?

"Brutal. Efficient and playful," is how Underberg sums up Switzerland's exploit. "You'll go a long way in the tournament." Perhaps even as far as a reunion with Germany? The two teams drew 1-1 in the group stage, with Nicals Füllkrug scoring the equalizer in the 92nd minute.

"I no longer think it's out of the question that the final at this European Championship will be played entirely in German," said Underberg. For Austria and Switzerland, this possible path will perhaps be even easier to overcome than for Germany, who, at least on paper, face a tough task in reaching the final.
