Dominic Stricker is unable to build on his strong performance from last year at Wimbledon. The 21-year-old from Bern loses in the first round against the Frenchman Arthur Fils 3:6, 2:6, 6:3, 4:6.
Stricker, who only returned to competition a month ago after persistent back problems, only got into the match better towards the end against Fils (ATP 34), who is almost two years his junior, but had to retire after 2:05 hours. He will drop to around 170th place in the rankings.
