Fribourg-Gottéron's comeback under coach Lars Leuenberger comes to a halt. The Spengler Cup winners suffer their second defeat in 48 hours at home against Davos (3:4 n.V.).

Two days after losing on penalties at Ambri-Piotta, Marcus Sörensen saved Fribourg with his double in the final period to prevent his team from going without points for the first time in the fifth league game under Leuenberger. In the end, however, the visiting team prevailed for the fourth time in the fourth season duel between the two teams. Tino Kessler deflected a shot from Valentin Nussbaumer 39 seconds before the next penalty decision to give HCD victory.

A blackout by Dave Sutter put Fribourg in trouble for the first time around the middle of the game. The experienced defenseman, who will return to his youth club Genève-Servette in the summer, lost the puck at the blue line shortly after Mauro Dufner had equalized, which Nussbaumer took advantage of to make it 2:1. Before the second period break, Davos' Adam Tambellini, who scored twice, increased the lead to 3:1 in the power play.

Thanks to Sörensen, Freiburg were able to equalize once more, but their wings were clipped by their second consecutive defeat on their way to the top six. The difference to sixth-placed EV Zug is six points, with Fribourg having played one game more. HC Davos closed the gap to one point on second-placed Bern thanks to their second win in a row, but have played two games more and are also behind the 4th-placed ZSC Lions on points lost, who have five games fewer.
