Xhaka with own goal Crazy comeback: Leverkusen come back from 3-1 down to defeat Stuttgart

Bayer Leverkusen were already two goals down in Stuttgart. However, the German champions showed their resilience and skillfully averted an impending defeat.

Despite trailing by two goals, Bayer Leverkusen were lucky to celebrate an important victory in the battle for the Bundesliga title. Five days after being knocked out of the Champions League against FC Bayern Munich, the German champions won 4:3 at VfB Stuttgart at the end of the 26th matchday thanks to a goal from Patrick Schick in stoppage time

. As a result, the defending champions are now just six points behind league leaders FC Bayern Munich, who were held to a 1-1 draw by 1. FC Union Berlin the previous day.

Ermedin Demirovic (15th minute) and the strong Nick Woltemade (48th) had given Stuttgart a 2-0 lead. Jeremy Frimpong (56') scored the equalizer for Leverkusen before an own goal from Granit Xhaka (62') restored the two-goal deficit. Piero Hincapie (68), an own goal from Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller (88) and Schick (90.+4) turned the game around for Leverkusen.
