HC Davos is still leading the table in the ice hockey championship. However, after the 3-0 loss to the SCL Tigers, the Davos team is now only a temporary leader.
One week before the start of the Spengler Cup, Davos continue to lead the standings with a two-point advantage over the ZSC Lions. However, the Zurich side were not in action on Wednesday - because they had advanced to the semi-finals of the Champions Hockey League the day before. The ZSC Lions have now played four fewer games than HC Davos.
The SCL Tigers' victory in Davos was undoubtedly the surprise of the round. The Rapperswil-Jona Lakers also impressed. After eight defeats in a row, they returned to winning ways with a 4:2 victory at home against SC Bern. The change of coach from Stefan Hedberg to Johan Lundskog seems to have done the St. Gallen team some good. Lundskog - once sacked in Bern - celebrated his first win as head coach of the Lakers against his former club of all people.
The other two games ended as expected: Kloten defeated Lugano 6:3, who have still not managed to turn things around during the national team break. And Lausanne Hockey Club remained at the top of the table with a 5-0 win over Ambri-Piotta.
