Basel had led 3:1 in the semi-final series, but then lost two games in a row by a clear margin. In the decisive seventh game against Olten, who had only finished 7th in the qualifiers, coach Eric Himelfarb's team regained its old strength. After conceding 16 goals in the previous three games, the defense was particularly impressive.

Langnau's loanee Matthias Rossi scored the only goal of the game for a long time. The 34-year-old forward took advantage of an overtime situation in the 6th minute and scored the psychologically important goal for the hosts. The teams then tried to avoid making any mistakes. In the 51st minute, Basel had its third powerplay and was successful for the second time. Jakob Stukel made the majority of the 5137 fans in the St. Jakob Arena cheer with the 2:0.

The final will therefore be a duel between Basel and Visp, who qualified fourth. Basel have won four of the five season duels and are the clear favorites. However, the Valais team has impressed in the playoffs so far, losing just one game in two series. While they have enjoyed a break since March 7, Basel will continue almost seamlessly: the first game of the final series will take place on Sunday.
