Hawryluk played three seasons in the NHL. Kloten's team manager Ricardo Schödler describes the Canadian as an "extremely dangerous, versatile forward who stands out with a great skill set".

According to EHC Kloten, Hawryluk's signing is not related to the recent events surrounding top scorer Miro Aaltonen, whose contract was terminated due to a doping offense. The contract with Hawryluk had already been signed beforehand.
