If the problem can be resolved in time, the results of Sunday's federal vote will also be published on the cantonal and communal websites as usual, the canton of Glarus announced on X. As usual, the results can also be viewed on the notice board at the town hall in Glarus and at the respective municipal buildings. Only the administration's websites were affected. Internal systems were not attacked.

Unknown persons overloaded the capacity of the external data center of the Eastern Swiss operator Backslash on Sunday, which is why the websites of the canton and the municipalities could not be accessed or used, the report continued. The websites of municipalities in the canton of Aargau, including Aarau, Baden and Brugg, were particularly affected.

The canton of Glarus and the Schwyz municipalities of Lachen and Altendorf were also affected by the attack, according to the canton of Schwyz. There were apparently no problems on the websites of municipalities in the cantons of Basel-Land, Bern, Graubünden, Schaffhausen, Solothurn, St. Gallen, Uri and Zurich.
