For the sixth time in a month, a severe storm has hit the Philippines, killing at least eight people.

According to the Pagasa weather bureau, the super typhoon "Man-Yi" made landfall on Saturday in the east of the island state with wind speeds of 195 kilometers per hour and again on Sunday in the north-eastern province of Aurora.
Seven people were killed by a landslide in the province of Nueva Vizcaya north of the capital Manila, the disaster control authority announced. In the eastern province of Camarines Norte, a man died in a motorcycle accident caused by the storm.
The storm knocked down trees and electricity pylons, swept away roofs and caused flooding. More than 685,000 people had to leave their homes.
The Philippines are hit by strong storms and an average of around 20 typhoons every year. According to the disaster management authority, six severe storms have already hit the Philippines since mid-October, including tropical storm "Trami" and super typhoon "Kong-rey", which together killed more than 160 people.
