Finally some good news in Spain: Three days after the deadly storms, rescue workers in the hard-hit Mediterranean region of Valencia have rescued a woman alive from a car. The police in the municipality of Moncada shared a video on the X platform in which the president of the Valencia Civil Defense, Martín Pérez, announces her rescue to applause from employees.

The woman is said to have been trapped for three days next to the body of her sister-in-law in the vehicle in the municipality of Benetússer, south of the major city of Valencia, as reported by the Europapress news agency with reference to the local newspaper "Las Provincias". Rescue workers heard her screams as they dragged cars out of a tunnel that had become stuck. The rescued woman was taken for a medical examination, but no further details were known.

According to the latest figures from the Spanish government, 211 people lost their lives in Tuesday's severe storms, most of them in the Valencia region.
