Markus Graf is to become the new parliamentary group president of the SVP in the Basel-Landschaft parliament. This was announced by the SVP Baselland on Friday. Graf succeeds Reto Tschudin, who will hold this office ad interim until the parliamentary session on August 30. This follows the dismissal of Peter Riebli as parliamentary group president in April.

Graf is a farmer in Maisprach and has been a member of the district council since 2015. Dominique Erhart and Caroline Mall will take on the role of group vice-chairwoman, as the press release explains.

Mall will therefore return to the leadership of the parliamentary group. Until April, she was also part of the leadership, together with Peter Riebli and Andi Trüssel. The reason for their dismissal was differences of opinion within the party prior to the elections for the party presidency. In the end, Riebli won the election: he was elected President of the SVP Baselland on April 25.
