Exhibition Lucerne Poster Festival is in the starting blocks

The 16th Weltformat Graphic Design Festival opens in Lucerne on Saturday. The motto of this year's festival is "How to Start", as the organizers announced on Tuesday.

The festival, which is dedicated to visual design and runs until October 13, is focusing this year on the start of a career or a new project and, among other things, explores the question of how to deal with the often paralyzing fear of the blank page. Under the motto "Just Start", poster designers will show how they master these challenges on the opening day.

In addition to a symposium with lectures by international designers, the Weltformat Festival invites you to five exhibitions spread throughout the city of Lucerne. These will be open for nine days from 12.00 noon to 6.00 pm.

In the "GraphicDesign.zip" exhibition in the Heilig Geist Chapel, for example, two graphic designers will be showing stamps from 1935 to 2024 and revealing how graphic designers have dealt with design challenges.

The 100 best posters will be shown in the Kornschütte and the exhibition "The most beautiful books from all over the world" will be presented in the Ahoi on Furrengasse.

The "Newcomer Award" on the theme of "Start Now" will also be presented on the opening day on October 5. According to the organizers, 300 designers from all over the world submitted almost 700 posters. The 20 nominated posters can be viewed in Poster Alley in front of the Luzerner Kantonalbank.
