Although the Young Socialists of the City of Bern still want four red-green seats on the municipal council, they are only recommending three candidates from the red-green center alliance for re-election. This was revealed in a communiqué on Monday.

They are recommending Marieke Kruit, Matthias Aebischer (both SP) and Ursina Anderegg (Green Alliance) for election. These three are "more reliable and closer to our positions" than Mayor Alec von Graffenried and his Green Free List. The latter had "increasingly attracted negative attention due to their liberal economic positions".

If we limit ourselves to the other three RGM candidates, two of them could still benefit from a possible accumulation, it continued. The Juso made the decision after a hearing with Kruit, Aebischer and Anderegg, which they had organized together with the Junge Alternative.

The Juso are backing Marieke Kruit in the city council election. She is to replace von Graffenried. Bern's general elections will take place on November 24.
