Municipal vote Herisau rejects initiative for financial referendum

In Herisau, the popular initiative for a financial referendum has failed. 56.3 percent of voters were against it. The initiative was backed by the "Herisau-lebendig&demokratisch" committee.

The popular initiative called for 200 voters to be able to hold an optional referendum against the budget approved by the residents' council or against the setting of the tax rate.

The initiative was rejected by 2433 votes to 1890. This means that the residents' council (parliament) continues to make the final decision on the budget and the tax rate.
