An articulated vehicle carrying a car press has been stopped in the canton of Zug. The reason for this was that it weighed 51 tons instead of the permitted 40 tons.

The foreign vehicle was traveling on the A4 on Tuesday, as the criminal investigation authorities announced on Friday. It was noticed by a police patrol because the load was "at first glance" inadequately secured.

The police directed the driver off the highway and inspected the transport. They found that the loaded car press was not only inadequately secured, but that the transport was also eleven tons too heavy. In addition, the driver had not complied with the regulations on working, driving and rest times.

The police confiscated the car press. The 35-year-old driver only got it back after he had paid a fine deposit of 3,500 francs. He was also reported to the police.
